This book (subtitled: Adventures And Recipes Of The White Turkey Inn; published in Richmond, Virginia: The Dietz Press, [1948]. 8vo.; brown cloth; stamped in gilt) contains recipes and a brief history of The White Turkey Inn that operated from late 1700s until 1972 in Brookfield, Connecticut on Route 7 (SW corner of Rt 7 and Candlewood Lake Rd). The author, F. Meredith Dietz (editor of the Southern Literary Messenger) Originally an old house outside Danbury, Connecticut, the White Turkey Inn was one of the first English-style tea houses in New England and was later purchased by Harry and Dorothy Davega in the 1930s. Recipes included in this book are from Charleston, South Carolina with contributions from Virginia chefs and New England pastry cooks- offering some of the oldest American favorites.
