Bronson and Pickett
Even before C.L. Campbell was making the rounds buying up properties for CL&P, Danbury's Bronson and Pickett were also purchasing land. According to Lynn Taborsak:
All this activity did not go unnoticed by the local residents. Two men took special interest in the comotion on North Street. Dr. Frederick Pickett, a Danbury optometrist, and Dr. William Bronson, a local physician, bought serveral miles of shoreline from December 1926 to July 1927. There is evidence that Bronson was transacting with C.L. Campbell in the flurry of purchases at this time. See The History of Candlewood Lake
By June of 1928, Bronson and Pickett were selling land at $1000/acre. Eventually, they founded Danbury's Aqua Vista development and at one point owned a third of Danbury's Candlewood shoreline.
