Papers relating to the Brown and Johnson families and related lineages of Litchfield, Naugatuck, Torrington and elsewhere consisting of original and copied source materials. The materials comprised ten binders and include 18th and 19th century publications, such as Hutchins' Revived Almanac (1814), Old Farmer's Almanac (1835), Centennial Exposition guide (1876); correspondence; family records and cerificates; bills and receipts; clippings; genealogical information; and photographs, including cartes-de-viste, cabinet cards, and tintypes, circa 1860s-1960s.

The Buell and Wheeler prescription book (1972-135-0) was maintained from 1876 through 1879. The book contains prescriptions that were filled at the pharmacy of Buell and Wheeler in Litchfield, Connecticut.

This collection includes photographic prints created by Richard Southall Grant for Irving Holley and his wife, Mary Lewis Sharp Holley, of Torrington.

The Clarence H. Elliott collection documents Elliott's association with Litchfield High School from 1916 through 1927 as teacher, assistant principal, principal, and athletic coach. There are also items which relate to Litchfield in general and Antrim, N.H., where Elliott lived for a time prior to coming to Litchfield. The collection consists of photographs, scrapbooks, ephemera, and news clippings.

Two bills, one from the Echo Farm Co., 1899, and C. W. Hinsdale, 1902; a Connecticut State Board of Education letter regarding unsatisfactory school attendance of two children, 1903; and a corset advertisement imprinted with W. J. Bissell, Litchfield, Conn., undated.

Account book (1973-66-0) maintained by Burton Clarke, a farmer of Salisbury, Connecticut, in 1884. The entries list Mr. Clarke's daily activities, purchases that he made and their cost, and also if he hired laborers for the day. When laborers are included in daily costs he lists out the names of the individuals and what work they did on that day. At the end of the account book are account listings for cash paid out for the year and cash received for the year.
