This collection includes original caricatures drawn by tenor Enrico Caruso; portrait shots and photographs of Caruso in costume; handwritten correspondence by Caruso; two bronze busts of Caruso; and various articles and promotional materials on Caruso's career activity.
This collection includes soprano Geraldine Farrar's handwritten correspondence, primarily to Charles Mills and William H. Seltsam; a large scrapbook by Charles Mills of Farrar clippings, photographs, and Christmas cards; photographs of Farrar; and miscellaneous programs, promotional material, and articles.
This collection documents the career of Adelina Patti, and many of the items in the collection are housed in a large scrapbook. Also included in the collection is a biography of Patti: Adelina Patti: Her Loves and Letters, by her goddaughter, Gladys Adelina Lewis. The collection also includes an autograph book presented to Selma Gruenberg, which includes an Adelina Patti autograph and inscription (1882), and correspondences from Patti to Giulia Valde and various other people. Objects in the collection include a slipper autographed by Patti, a pair of opera glasses, a pair of formal evening gloves, and an ornate collapsible fan.
This collection provides supplemental information on more than one thousand preeminent figures directly or indirectly related to historical sound recordings, mostly through photographs and other pictorial images, such as postcards and drawings, as well as through correspondence, clippings, articles, and other promotional material.
The materials in the collection relate to Currier's career as a pianist and faculty member at the Yale School of Music. Included are letters, programs, reviews, lecture notes, posters, and a few photographs. Currier included a number of sound recordings with his Papers. The Duke Ellington Oral History is comprises ninety-two interviews with and about Ellington, one of America's greatest composers. Included among the interviewees are musicians, family members, friends, and colleagues.
The Enrico Batelli Papers consist primarily of manuscript scores and parts for Batelli's original musical compositions and arrangements of music by other composers. The papers also contain manuscript and printed music by other composers, including several by Batelli's teacher, Paolo Serrao, plus a small number of biographical materials.
