Series I presents the sequence of materials relating to Paul Hindemith's compositions as they were collected by Luther Noss. Arranged roughly in chronological order, each composition is assigned one or more folders which contain documents, reviews, articles, and commentaries. With a few exceptions, there are no published scores in the Collection; these are contained in the reference and circulating collections of the Yale University Music Library. In addition, works by other composers which were edited for publication or arranged by Hindemith appear in the chronology.
