Spanish and Portuguese Architecture Photograph Collection 1,175 photographs and 16 contact sheets, black and white, unmounted. Most are 7 ¼ x 9 ½ in., with smaller format included. Most are good quality, although some have been printed from dusty or damaged negatives. This collection is made up of photos combined from various sources (Foto MAS Barcelona, principally) so that scholars seeking specific subjects not in the general collection could consult these files, and have photos mounted as needed. This includes 16 contact sheets, some of which have identification information written on them. These photos were a gift from George Kubler. Photos are of building interiors and exteriors, altarpieces, architectural sculpture, wall paintings, and early architectural drawings. Most are Spanish Baroque. Some document damage from bombing during the Spanish Civil War. They are all identified on the backs. Their purchase dates span the life of the Visual Resources Collection, ca. 1940-1995. Collection consists of mostly labeled black and white photographs of Spanish Baroque and other buildings, altarpieces, architectural sculpture, wall paintings and early architectural drawings.
