In 1834, students of the Theological Institute, formed a society for mutual improvement. The society consisted of 3 committees: Foreign Missions, Domestic Mission; Seamans Friend. This book contains the constitution and the meeting minutes of the Society of Inquiry. There are 207 numbered pages and approximately 75 unnumbered pages. The Society of Inquiry was founded a month after the seminary opened on East Windsor Hill and lasted for 19 years. (See Curtis M. Geer's "The Hartford Theological Seminary," p.80)
