The series holds portraits of Wilmarth Lewis made throughout his life, as well as photographs that document his involvement with various organizations, institutions, and groups. The first subseries, Portraits, contains images of Lewis photographed alone, by commercial studios or informally in snapshots by friends and family. The Activities subseries shows Lewis at dedications, conferences, dinners, and events, as well as receiving awards. Five folders at the end of the series contain snapshot photographs of him relaxing with friends and family, playing croquet, and posing with his beloved dogs.
