A wooden box in which the glass plate negative was housed prior to 2016. The lid was inscribed in black crayon: "Glass Negative of Mrs Lewises Portrait"; inside is a folded section of the New York Times from April 26, 1936, which had served as padding for the plate.

Three glass plate negatives with two images on each plate; they likely originated at the Alman & Co. studio in New York, and were used to make the series of platinum prints that are stamped on verso "Lee E. Paulmann Photographic Laboratories, Bristol, Conn."
