For the first few years of Marian Anderson's career, she was managed by the office of Arthur Judson. However, in 1934, she was approached by Sal Hurok with a better offer, which she accepted. He remained her manager for the rest of her careeer. It was Hurok who convinced Anderson to return from her tours of Europe; without his encouragement she might have stayed much longer.
