James Blackstone Memorial Library is a public library located in Branford, Connecticut. It is commonly referred to as the Blackstone Library or the Branford Library. The library was commissioned by Timothy Blackstone as a memorial to his father, James Blackstone.

The author, a 1934 graduate of Branford High School, graduated from the University of Connecticut where he was a star athlete in basketball and football. He served in the U. S. Army in WWII, attaining the rank of major. He received his law degree from Ohio State University and pacticed law in Dayton, Ohio. He is the founder of the J. Robert Donnelly Heritage Sports Museum on the UConn campus.
