Fire Committee report to the Common Council - 1891

The Fire Committee report states that, "...the department statnds to-day reorgianized, remodeled, and in an effective condition. Discipline once more controls the men and the causes of discontent have been removed." The Committee goes on to detail the structure of the newly formed, paid Fire Department. "The active force of the paid department to-day consists of forty-three (43) men..." The paid departments are Hose Company No. 1 and No. 2. "The volunteer force consists of five hose companies located at convenient points away from the center of the city."
