Samuel Starr informs Sarah Bishop that the letter Sarah sent to her husband arrived. Starr said he would withhold telling Joseph about the news about the death of his child. Starr also mentions that J. Bishop has passed a critical point (hemorrhage of the bowels), but is doing better and choose not to worry him about his deceased child in his present condition.

Madam
Your letter to Mr. Bishop sent to my care came to hand today. I left it with Mrs. Caskey The Lady of the House he is at; supposing it contains the announcement of the death of your child we thought it not best to give it to him till he had somewhat recovered, he has passed a very critical point in his sickness (Hemerage of the Bowels) but is much better now we think he will get along he is quite comfortable and improving daily is well taken care of and will have every attention shown him to make him comfortable. Mrs. Cook and Wildman have been here but returned to the city today I write you supposing you would be glad to hear from him he does not know of the death of his child not having heard from you for sometime we thought it better not to worry his mind with the information at present. I am hoping he will speedily recover.
Respectfully Yours
S. Starr
