Bishop has stopped in Bellefontaine to rest a while, since travel was making him sicker. He is staying with John Caskey. They haven't been paid for 3 months.

My dear Wife,
Mr. Goff has kindly offered his services in writing to you. I found in traveling this far on my way home, that I was injuring myself to such an extent that I found I could not get home now. I therefore stopped off in this town, where I could rest, and if possible improve my health. In travelling this far, I became so racked, and my desease (the Piles) became so irritable that in fact, I could not come any farther. I have been here about 3 days. I think I feel better having become somewhat rested, and still hope I shall soon be able to come home. I am in a good situation, where I am well cared for. You need not give yourself any uneasiness about my being well taken care of, as I am well attended to. I am not able to sit up much, yet I am not much sick, but completely worried out with sickness and constant fatigue, and about all I want, I think is rest. I am not expecting to get on my way home very soon, as if I do improve my condition. I shall not venture out, until I am sure I am able to travel without bringing on my disease again. When I leave here, I intend to travel in a passenger car, where I can travel in more comfort than I did in a cattle car.
I wish you to write me on the receipt of this letter, if anything happens I will write, or have Mr. Caskey (the place I am stopping at) to write you immediately. You must not give yourself any trouble about me, as every thing will work for our own good, and we must learn to be content with our lot, let it be in prosperity or adversity. I cannot promise when I will start home, but as soon as the circumstances will permit. Give my love to enquiring friends. My love to the children and yourself. I remain as ever your affectionate husband.
