Describes nature of Democratic Party in Danbury, fmr. Mayor L. Legrand Hopkins (D, and first mayor of the City of Danbury) is elected to the bench and Meyers loses because of Mayor Peix (R) was a desired candidate for county commissioner - a position that would not go to a Republican if both State Representatives that were elected were Democrats. Supporters of the Mayor Peix saw to Meyers' narrow defeat.
