A letter from Roger Averill and A E Tweedy recommending Bishop to be a musician.

September 8th 1862

To whom it may concern,

We the undersigned are well acquainted with the bearer Joseph D. Bishop of Danbury. Mr. Bishop has volunteered for Nine Months Service under the last call of the President for 300,000 men. He is a skillful musician-makes music with facility and professes upon the drums. We commend him to the Col. of the Regiment in which he may be placed as a Serviceable and worthy person to be made Drum Major.
