Davenport, A. B. (Amzi Benedict), 1817-

This is a privately printed history by A. B. Davenport, a descendent of the Davenport family who were prominent in the early history of the New Haven colony and of the town of Stamford. Davenport Ridge is an area of Stamford named for Reverend John Davenport, the third minister if the Congregational Church there. This area "was voted to the Rev. John Davenport of Stamford by the proprietors of the town in January, 1705-1706 in consideration of his hundred pounds interest in the 'Long Lots' as agreed upon at the time of his settlement here in 1693."
