From the Preface: "This catalog is devoted to the celebration of a book. It is now Forty Years since I sold my first book. The Shaw-Morley Nine Answers opened the door to what was to be the major activity of my life...the opportunities for acquisition and sale of a number of the world's geat books and manuscripts. The following pages will detail a number of our current offerings which are indicative of the importance, beauty and desirability of the chosen teasures that brighten my life...."
Lew D. Feldman (1906 - 1976) was a rare book dealer and head of the House of El Deff, which he founded in 1937. He was largely instrumental in building the rare book collection of the University of Texas. He also helped enlarge the content of the Berg Collection of the New York Public Library and the libraries of many private collectors. See the attached New York Times obituary (November 30, 1976).
