10-20 Min: Self evaluation report that WCSU had to preform on itself to become accredited; Dr. Cook's CT origins ( B.A. from UConn masters from N.Y.U. and Doctorate from Yale; began teaching high school biology in Stratford in 1932 after graduating from UCONN; was enlisted in military from August 1941 to December 1945; worked in Bridgeport at the Veterans assistance center; Alfred Geddes (Dean of men At WCSU) was in Cook's platoon; Geddes explained to Cook that WCSU was looking to expand; Helped establish Norwalk and Torrington Junior College (both off-shoots of WCSU) in 1946; hired Chester Flyod to teach math in the Junior Colleges, but was brought over to WCSU; hired as the director of extension, summer session and the two satellite colleges; the dean of the Norwalk school was Edward Baker in 1946
20-30 Min: Class of 1949 was the first class to contain more men that women in the college's history; 1949 is the beginning of an effort to create more extension and evening classes; When Old Main was dubbed "old main" after Higgins Hall was built in 1950; The transition from trimesters to semesters;
30-40 Min: F.I.T.S and S.I.T.S., freshman instructional team and sophomore instructional team; utilized to create a more cohesive learning experience for new students; philosophical origins of the teacher-do programs; based on the question: "What does a teacher do?" prevalent around 1949, 1950; Summer session on atomic energy that dealt with the science and social construction of atomic energy to help teachers understand how to discuss the subject in the classroom; New courses were decided by the state legislature, began to change in 1949,1950;
40-50 Min: Member of committee to establish an M.A. program from 1950-1953; Educational shift from a focus on science to a more balanced approach to include humanities; Choosing within the faculty who would teach the master's classes; Athletics program;
50-60 Min: Athletic programs continued; financial troubles in the athletic programs; legal implications of non-state sanctioned sports at college;
