Bas-Relief (Sculpture), 72 x 12", Torgoblock

Abstract

A long and narrow piece with the form of a harlequin.
This representation of the harlequin, while reduced to a series of geometric abstractions, is unmistakably identifiable. Perhaps in reference to Joan MirĂ³'s "The Harlequin's Carnival" - the elements of the subject are separated, but unlike MirĂ³, Hofmann-Ysenbourg reassembles them to create his colorful character with its hat and baubles.
