Red Rocks and People (Gente y Rocas Rojas)

Dublin Core

Description

Bas-Relief (Sculpture), 24 x 24", Torgoblock

Abstract

Six white figures stand in front of large red rocks.
Hofmann-Ysenbourg's characteristic human forms shaded in white in a grouping set off from the "red rock" background. Two of the figures appear to have wings - perhaps angels- guiding a group of four travelers. There is an Aztec legend that their forefathers had migrated to Mexico City from a land to the north - a land of red rocks and four rivers.
