Two Figures (Dos Figuras)

Dublin Core

Description

Sculpture, painted plastic on wood base, 5 x 12"

Abstract

Maquette of a piece at the Jardín Escultórico del Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City.
The piece show Hofmann-Ysenbourg's human form taking on a more geometric appearance, however, the figures manage to still communicate a humanity and affection for one another despite the level of abstraction. The juxtaposition of two or more figures is a common motif in the artist's work. Notice how one of the figures leans more into the other, denoting a subtle emotional differentiation.
