Very rare Connecticut history books now digitized

The WCSU Archives and Special Collections Library has a group of 72 Connecticut history titles (most acquired from the Brooklyn Historical Society in 2008) that are quite rare, and, in some cases, WCSU's copy may be the only one still in existence. The books date from the early 19th through the mid-20th century. The carousel below shows this group of materials.

Recently, the brittleness of most of these editions made any handling of them problematic. To address this, our volunteer, Jerry Shea, along with WCSU Archives staff have undertaken to have these rare editions scanned for their preservation and to make them accessible.

All these editions are discoverable via the CT State Colleges and Universities' catalog.  The catalog links to e-book versions and downloadable pdfs served from the WCSU Archives.

We are very pleased that this project makes these rare books so easily accessible but also ensures that their content is preserved.

In addition to descriptive metadata regarding each item, some items contain links to related material relevant to the book's subject matter.

The map below shows the relevant geographic region of each volume.  All the titles digitized are listed below the map.
