Mortgages & Foreclosure

Halcyon Gilbert Bailey mortgaged several of his properties after his divorce from Emily Keeler.

On February 8th, 1873 he mortgaged Sherwood Farm, Crow Hill, and 14 Bogus Acres to the Savings Bank of Danbury for $4000.

On May 8th, 1873 he mortgaged Sherwood Farm, Crow Hill, and 14 Bogus acres to Ebenezer J. Hutchings of Brooklyn in exchange for debts in the amount of $3000.

He also owed $1500 to William Taylor, but there doesn't seem to be a mortgage document for it in the Ridgefield Land records.

In October 3rd, 1877 a court found that Halcyon had defaulted on his loan from William Taylor. In January 1878, his properties were foreclosed on and became property of Ebenezer Hutchings.
