Funeral of Dr. Keeler

The funeral of Dr. Annie Keeler, of 12 Chapel place, was held at the Ridgebury church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Dr. Keeler was a former resident of Ridgebury. There was a large attendance, many people coming by automobile from Danbury and South Norwalk. The services were conducted by the Rev. Hugh Shields, pastor of the Congregational church of Ridgefield. He paid a tribute to the public spirit of Dr. Keeler and to her character and medical ability.

At the conclusion of the services conducted by Mr. Shields, ten members of Echo Rebekah lodge conducted a service in the church.

Following the services at the church, all in attendance at the funeral walked to the Ridgebury cemetery, as is the custom in Ridgebury. The committal service of the Rebekah degree was conducted by Echo Rebekah lodge, of which Dr. Keeler was an active and interest member, with Mrs. Mae Oar, as Noble Grand; Mrs. Ruth Parmelee as vice grand; and Mrs. Libbie Horan as chaplain.

Interment took place in the family plot in the Ridgebury Cemetery. The pall bearers were Sturges Sellock, R. K. Reynolds, Lyman Keeler, C.E. Armstrong, and Edward M. Keeler, all cousins of Dr. Keeler.

There was an abundance of floral tributes, attesting to the esteem in which Dr. Keeler was held, including pieces from Echo Rebekah Lodge, the Graduate Nurses' association, the Ridgefield Congregational church, the Danbury Medical society and the Danbury Republican Woman's club. Flowers were received from friends, relatives and medical colleagues.
