In giving child right impetus, says Rev. E. Jay Teagarden

In harmony with the thought of ``Baby week, '' Rev. E. Jay Teagarden, pastor of the Church of Christ, preached yesterday morning on the subject ``Parent and Child.'' Mr. Teagarden said in part:

``Since Christ was born in the manger more attention has been given to the child than ever before. The study of the child life should not be undervalued by Christian people. Men of science and social workers are making careful observations of childhood and giving instructions on how to conserve and develop the child in the most effective manner. These early years are the key to manhood and womanhood.''

The speaker discoursed on the nature of parental relationship and its responsibility and authority. ``But, '' said the speaker, ``parents have not discharged their whole duty when the physical wants of the child have been provided for and its intellectual development planned. The true parent looks after the traits of character, teaches the child by right example, by prayer and by keeping the child under the influence of the church.''
