Dr. Annie Keeler (1855-1927)

Daughter of Emily Keeler and Halcyon G. Bailey. Prominent doctor in Danbury, CT. Her birth name was Annie Keeler Bailey. She changed her name in 1907, following the deaths of both her parents. In later life, she was described as having "a mannish stride and a masculine tinge to her garments". It was also noted that "Dr. Bailey wears her hair short." She had a relationship of unknown nature with Miss Ella J. Gibbs; Dr. Keeler's gravestone is also a cenotaph [memorial marker for someone who is not buried there] to Miss Gibbs.

A sepia-toned photograph of a young white woman with tightly-coifed medium-dark hair. Her jacket has large lapels with lace detail. She has a ribbon tied in a bowtie around her collar.
