By 1872, Emily must have had enough. After 17 years of marriage, she filed for divorce against Halcyon for the second (and final) time on November 25th, 1872. In her petition, Emily stated that Halcyon was ‘violent in temper and abusive in conduct’. The divorce was granted in December of 1872, with (based on the available documentation) little argument from Halcyon.
