Text: Ridgebury Fairfield County Conn March 18th, 1868

This agreement made between Halcyon G. Bailey and his wife Emily Bailey
of the first part and Jonah Parks of Ridgebury the second part, that is to say the
parties of the first part, have let and rented or leased to the party of the second part
the tract of land known as the Sherwood Farm, bounded as follows North by the
land of George Hunt, West by the Highway, and land of Daniel Hunt, South by
the land of Allen Rundle, East by Highway. For the time of three years from
the first day of April Eighteen hundred and sixty eight (1868) on the following Condit-
ion, that is to say for the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250) Payable quarterly
in equal payments of (62 50/100) Sixty two dollars and fifty cents. The first quarter on the
first of July, Second first of October, third first of January. Fourth first of April
of each year during this lease, and the said Jonah Parks is to hold peaceable
possession of said land for the time mentioned if punctual payment be made and
contract fullfilled. Said Packs is to sow two tums of plaster this spring at his own
expense on said land, also to keep all line road, and other fences in condition
that no expence will be made for the parties of the first part to pay, and to cut
all bushes required to be cut round the fences of said land, that is now grown with
grass. but the part of spring lot said Packs is to plow and seed for grass the
first year with oats or rye, the parties of the first part to furnish the grass seed
and Parks to sow the same on said ground in good order. said Parks may
draw hay from said land to be fed at another place, on condition that
he will draw back and spread manure on said land where most needed
in his judgement one oxcart load of Manure for every load of hay drawn from:
said land and said Parks to keep or cause to be kept account of the same
