- This is on the shelf because Rex Stout was an important local author. Rex Stout was born in 1886 and died in 1975 at home (10 Milltown Rd, Danbury, CT 06811) on the border of New York and Connecticut where he lived for many years. His Nero Wolf series was very popular. He is best known for his Nero Wolfe mysteries, but he also served as head of the Writers' War Board in World War II.

- Clippings regarding Stout from the Truman Warner Papers
- 'Fer-De-Lance: A Nero Wolfe Mystery' is the first novel in the series, and introduces various reoccurring characters. Having read the story, it is easy to understand why so many have been drawn to this character over the years, both within the novels and among readers.
