The papers consist of correspondence, writings, student and teaching files, and miscellanea documenting the personal life and professional career of Albert G. Keller, a sociologist, author, and student and colleague of William Graham Sumner. Keller frequently corresponded with individuals on the subject of Sumner, and Yale University figures such as Arthur T. Hadley, James Rowland Angell, and Charles Seymour often felt Keller's displeasure over the University's treatment of the Sumner legacy. He also corresponded with colleagues and former students, Sumner biographers, and family members. Files relating to the William Graham Sumner Club, which he helped found, are also included. Drafts of several published and unpublished writings and many student gradebooks detail his literary and teaching activities.

Correspondence of Allen Johnson concerning his editorship of the Chronicles of America Series, consisting of incoming typed and autograph letters, signed, and outgoing typescript carbons, 1916-1920. Correspondents include historians Max Ferrand, Yale University, and Nathaniel Stephenson, College of Charleston, and other authors of volumes in the Chronicles of America Series; United States Publishers' Association founders Robert Pollock Glasgow and Arthur H. Brook, Gerhard Richard Lomer, and other staff of the United States Publishers' Association; and George Parmly Day, president, and other staff of Yale University Press. Also present are memoranda and financial accounts concerning publication of the Chronicles of America Series; and correspondence about publication of Johnson's Stephen A. Douglas: A Study in American Politics (New York: The Macmillan Company, 1908), 1907-1916.

The records contain the official correspondence of Arthur Twining Hadley during his tenure as president of Yale University. The papers document the rapid change and expansion which occurred at Yale during Hadley's presidency. The incoming correspondence contains letters with members of the Yale faculty and administration; requests for personal appearances and speeches and articles; inquiries from educational administrators; and correspondence with alumni relating to fund-raising and class reunions. The outgoing correspondence, in letterbook form, consists of carbon copies of Hadley's official outgoing correspondence from 1899 to 1921. Also included are subject files relating to ROTC and other military training programs; acceptances and regrets to invitations to Hadley's inauguration; newspaper clippings relating to Hadley's activities; copies of three addresses by Hadley; a notebook kept by one of Hadley's students in Economics 20 (1894-1895); Hadley's office appointment books (1900-1920); and two photograph albums.

The collection contains research material and drafts for "The Selected Letters of Edward Rowland Sill," edited by Barbara D. Simison and Stanley T. Williams; Simison and Williams collaborated on publication of Sill's account of his voyage around Cape Horn from December 1861 to March 1862, published as Around the Horn (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1944). Materials include the following: correspondence between Simison, Williams, and others relating chiefly to Sill's correspondence; copies (transcriptions) of Sill's correspondence, catalog cards listing correspondence, manuscript notes, and multiple drafts. The bulk of the collection dates from the editors solicitation of information about Sill's correspondence, starting in 1942, to a 1953 draft of "The Selected Letters," though correspondence relating to the work includes a brief 1965 exchange with an academic publisher.

The Carl Purington Rollins papers document Rollins's career as a master printer, graphic designer, author, and educator. The collection consists of personal and business correspondence; writings by Rollins and others; materials designed and/or printed by Rollins and others; and research files and notebooks.

More than half the correspondence is between family members. Charles Andrews's education and early career are detailed in correspondence with his parents, wife, and sisters. Evangeline Andrews's correspondence with her parents; her sister, Ethel Walker Smith; her husband; and her children concerns her Bryn Mawr activities, travels, historical and theatrical interests and writing, and the activities of family members. The correspondence also chronicles the development of the Ethel Walker School. Charles McLean Andrews's professional correspondents include former students, co-authors, fellow historians, librarians, and archivists. The professional correspondence is overwhelmingly incoming and reflects more of the correspondents' careers and activities than those of Andrews. Research and writings files detail Andrews's historical interests.

The records consist of correspondence, minutes, publications, and reports documenting the activities of the Griswold Project, Yale Alumni Magazine, the Yale Review, Yale University Press, and other concerns of the Yale Committee on Publications.
