The personal papers of Nan Ferguson Heminway (1920-2006), whose professional career spanned 50 years. She took up permanent residence in 1971 in Litchfield and decorated many historic homes. She was extensively involved with historic preservation, the Garden Club, and the Litchfield Historical Society.

Photostatic copies of letters written in the form of a diary by Nathaniel Hobart to members of his family on trips to the West and the South, 1837-1838. Principal cities described are New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and Niagara Falls. As a Swedenborgian, he also comments on religion and philosophy.

A deed from Nathaniel Smith 2nd of Litchfield to John Tallmadge of Warren under the firm of John Tallmadge and Company for 65 acres of land in the westerly part of Litchfield with the buildings thereon. Witnessed by Henry Wadsworth and Moses Seymour, Justice of Peace.

Mrs. Clarence F.R. Jenne, who also served as the organization's first president, organized the Hartford Colony of the National Society of New England Women January 1, 1921. The object of the Society was to bring together in social relations, women of New England ancestry to engage in educational, patriotic, civic, and philanthropic work. The papers of Nelson Brewster (1793?-1850), a lawyer who resided in Goshen, Conn. The papers consist of approximately 125 items, including legal records, bank reports, and similar documents.

The Newberry family collection consists of correspondence of Emma Wickham Newberry (Mrs. Samuel Newberry) of South Windsor, CT, from 1863 and 1879. Correspondance includes letters from her brother-in-law A. E. Newberry written in 1863. Other correspondence is from her sisters Maria Brewer and Jane Smith and leters to and from her mother. Also in the collection is a probate certificate of descent dated July 10, 1932 pertaining to the estate of Priscilla Newberry.
