The collection primarily consists of writings by Gilbert Cannan, containing autograph manuscripts of his novels, plays, poetry, and short stories, with some examples of his non-fiction writing, including the manuscript of his work Samuel Butler: a Critical Study. Series I holds the literary manuscripts, while Series II holds a law examination certificate and two photographs of Black Lake Cottage, in Farnham, Surrey, where Cannan lived for a time.

The collection consists of ninety-five manuscript and printed volumes, in their original bindings, created and accumulated by four members of the Wijnpersse family, relating to their scholarly careers at the Universities of Utrecht, Leiden and Groningen. Included are the major works of Dionysius van de Wijnpersse on logic and metaphysics in various annotated editions, and writings related to them in manuscript form; the annotated books and manuscripts of Samuel Johannes van de Wijnpersse; several volumes of lecture notes by Dionysius van de Wijnpersse, Jr., and his thesis which was published in Leiden in 1822; and the thesis, published before 1815, of Cornelius Adrianus van de Wijnpersse.

Collection consists of correspondence, typescripts, photographs, performance programs and other ephemera primarily relating to Frank L. Smith's career as a theatrical press and advance agent for burlesque shows produced by Max Spiegel on the burlesque theater circuit from circa 1916 to 1919. Correspondence chiefly consists of Smith's communications with theaters in which the shows were to perform, and with Max Spiegel regarding issues concerning the productions. Typescripts include press releases and articles by Smith publicizing performers and productions including George Armstrong, Florence Mills, Abe Reynolds, the Watson Sisters and the Merry Rounders. Photographs include portrait and candid photographs of Smith, Spiegel, and unidentified male and female performers. The collection also includes Spiegel production playbills and programs and publicity materials; mock-ups of posters and original pen and ink caricatures of Smith; a small group of personal papers; and a scrapbook containing newspaper clippings relating to Smith's work on the burlesque theater circuit.
