Correspondence, financial papers and memorabilia of members of the Gibbs family. Of principal interest are thirteen letters (1783-1796) from Roger Sherman to his brother-in-law, Henry Gibbs, of which five (1789-1790) discuss the deliberations of the first Congress of the United States. Other figures represented in the papers are two Josiah Willard Gibbses (father and son) and Addison Van Name.

The H. F. Broch de Rothermann Papers are composed primarily of correspondence which documents the life and career of the Austrian writer Hermann Broch, the father of Hermann Friedrich Broch de Rothermann. The collection spans the years 1916 to circa 2001, with the bulk of the material falling between 1953 and 1986. Major topics include republication of Hermann Broch's writings, Broch scholarship, and other aspects of the reception history of Broch's works. Also present are materials relating to Broch de Rothermann's work in the United States Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II, writings and drawings by Broch de Rothermann, and other papers relating to him. Papers relating to the OSS include reports on the development and effectiveness of propaganda, American support for resistance in areas occupied by Germany, American occupation of Italy and Germany, and interrogation of German soldiers and other prisoners by the American army; samples of military and civilian propaganda in German, Italian, French, Russian, and other languages; correspondence and documents about Broch de Rothermann's service, discharge, and return to the United States after the war; and a photograph of unidentified soldiers, possibly including Broch de Rothermann. Propaganda samples include drawings made by artist Saul Steinberg.

Also included is a small amount of correspondence on his proposed Ph.D. dissertation at Yale University on James G. Huneker. An important correspondent is H. L. Mencken with 17 letters (1943-1944).

The papers consist chiefly of notes, manuscripts, documents, minutes of parliamentary committees, pamphlets and other materials collected by Hajo Holborn in connection with research on the drafting of the Weimar constitution. The pamphlets include works on related subjects, such as the German revolution of 1918, the Workers' and Soldiers' Councils, constitutional history and federalism in Germany, territorial questions concerning Silesia and the Saar, and materials on German political parties, including minutes of meetings, leaflets and printed matter from the Deutsche Demokratische Partei (DDP). Some of the DDP material is particularly addressed to women. Also in the papers are essays and reviews by Holborn, teaching materials from his tenure at the Hochschule für Politik in Berlin and Yale University. There is only a small amount of correspondence, largely on professional matters. Important correspondents are Friedrich Meinecke and Alfred Vagts, who also contributed a memoir on Holborn.

Correspondence includes family, personal, and professional correspondence, and fan mail. Notable correspondents include Robinson's agent, Ellen Levine, and her editor Pat Strachan. Both writings and correspondence include born digital components. Other papers consist of printed material, clippings, photographs, and miscellaneous papers. Audiovisual materials consist of an interview with Marilynne Robinson.
