Correspondence, writings, collected material, and photographs document the lives and work of Paul R. and Charlotte Reynolds. The Reynolds were missionaries in north China, serving under the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (1921-1936).

This record group consists of periodicals on China collected by the United States Catholic China Bureau as subject resources for its work, as well as material documenting the program activities of the Bureau. These periodicals document the Christian church in contemporary China.

The collection also contains substantive documentation of the life and work of Ilma Ruth Aho, a Finnish missionary about whom Whittlesey wrote a biography.

Sermons, writings, and memorabilia document the life and work of prominent Presbyterian minister Morgan Phelps Noyes. Noyes was a 1914 graduate of Yale University, received an honorary D.D. from Yale in 1938, and was a member of the Yale University Corporation from 1945 to 1959. He served served churches in New York and New Jersey from 1920 to 1957 and was Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York from 1945 to 1951.

These materials represent the official archives of the International Association for Mission Studies from its formation through 2012. IAMS is an international, inter-confessional, and interdisciplinary professional society for the scholarly study of Christian witness and its impact in the world. The association was inaugurated in 1972 at Driebergen, the Netherlands. From 1972 to 2012, IAMS held thirteen international conferences on five continents.

Correspondence, writings, photographs, slides, and collected material document the life and work of Sidney and Olive Anderson, who were Methodist missionaries in China and Hong Kong from 1915 to 1963. They were instrumental in the development of the Moore Memorial Church in Shanghai and spent twelve years in Hong Kong after 1951 working with refugees from mainland China and at the North Point Methodist Church.

Correspondence, writings, and collected material document the life and work of Melvin Wittler, who was an American Protestant missionary in Turkey from 1956 to 1993, and provide insight into religious and political events in the Middle East. Wittler served as an administrator for the Near East Mission of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions and the United Church Board for World Ministries, overseeing the Mission's educational and medical work.

This collection documents the life and work of Lutheran theologian and ecumenist Nils Arne Bendtz. Bendtz received his B.D. and Ph.D. from Yale. He served as a missionary in China under the Board of Swedish Missions, with prisoners of war during World War II under the YMCA World's Committee, in Sumatra under the Commission of Younger Churches and Orphaned Missions of the National Lutheran Council, as a professor at Augustana Theological Seminary, as a pastor at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, NY, and for the Lutheran World Federation.
