Four letters, from Benjamin Tallmadge to John Paine Cushman, which discuss both political and social matters. In one letter, he comments on the Congressional committee appointed to investigate the bank of the United States and expresses his certainty that the committee will discover a system of favoritism there. He also discusses, in detail, his hopes that Congress will investigate the institution at West Point, since he believes it is currently being run by a despot. Elsewhere, he hopes that Revolutionary War officers will receive financial compensation before they have all passed away, and reports on the activities of young Tallmadge.
