The Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven (JHSGNH) is a member organization of the Ethnic Heritage Center at Southern Connecticut State University. Our archive includes synagogue, cemetery, and organizational records, photographs, original documents, genealogies, diaries, newspaper articles, scrapbooks, and noteworthy events. A major strength of our holdings is audiovisual materials, including over 400 audio/video tapes that preserve the society's programs, meetings, and events, interviews, and more than 300 oral histories about Jewish New Haven. We also have a large object collection and an extensive library of 1500 volumes.

The Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven (JHSGNH) is a member organization of the Ethnic Heritage Center at Southern Connecticut State University. Its holdings include more than 300 oral histories focused on New Haven and World War II. This index currently includes oral histories recorded from the late 1980s to mid 2010s mostly on VHS-C and MiniDV. The original recordings on VHS-C and MiniDV have been migrated to VHS tapes and DVDS, respectively, and can be digitized and shared on-demand.

This is a collection of publications by Burton Levine (1948-2023), a sociologist, author, and past president of the Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven. The collection consists of both published and unpublished works ranging from 1981 to 1997. The publications in this collection include Bag of Wire Expose, Contemporary Sociology, Fellowship, Hartford Courant, The Humanist, Jewish Book World, Jewish Frontier, Jewish Spectator, Na'amat Women, New Haven Register, New York Times, Nursing Forum, ORT Reporter, Present Tense, Shmate, Social Forces, and Women's American ORT Reporter. The publications include book reviews, newspaper and magazine articles, scholarly articles, and opinion pieces. Levine wrote about Jewish culture, but tried to avoid writing about religion. This collection grants insight into social and political issues in the Jewish community and the United States throughout the 80s and 90s from a left-leaning perspective.

This collection documents work done by Judith Ann Schiff for the Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven (JHSGNH). Additional biographical material collected by JHSGNH is also included. This collection spans from the late 1970s to 2023. Schiff's original papers in this collection are her personal work on Jewish topics, especially her service to JHSGNH, while the material collected by JHSGNH are articles written by and about Schiff. Types of material found in this collection include correspondence, research and writing materials, exhibit and lecture notes and programs, meeting minutes, grant applications and reports, policy and planning documents, and published articles, as well as a few files containing graphic materials, such as stationery and photographs.

The Hebrew Congregation of Woodmont (HCW) is an Orthodox synagogue that originated in 1920 in the Woodmont section of Milford. It is the only summer synagogue in Connecticut. This collection consists primarily of organizational records created by the Hebrew Congregation of Woodmont. The extent of this collection is 15 folders containing materials dating from 1926 to 2018. It includes notes, minutes, correspondence, posters, legal documents, ledgers, speeches, governing documents, newsletters, mailings, ephemera, newspaper clippings, and a few photographs.
