CCSU's Elihu Burritt Library includes Special Collections & Archives to preserve and improve access to university and Connecticut history. The department prepares finding aids that describe available collections to support scholars in their research. The Connecticut Polish American Archives CPAA contains materials related to the history of the Polish American community in the United States, with an emphasis on the history of Polish Americans in Connecticut and New England. The GLBTQ Archives holds materials related to the struggle for gay rights, especially in Connecticut. It provides comprehensive coverage of local political and cultural history from the 1970s to today.

Polish Survivors of the Holocaust: an oral history project, 1978-1987 (Bulk 1980-1982) 11 boxes (5 linear ft.)


Polish Americans
The project followed a public protest after the broadcasting of a popular TV mini-series "Holocaust" that, in Polish-American opinion, portrayed Poles unfairly. The project was inaugurated by a technical workshop for interviewers and a public forum.
Also included in the collection are materials describing various Polish-American initiatives that aimed at educating the American public opinion about Polish losses during WWII and Polish-Jewish relations during the war.

This collection spans most of the life of Rev. Eugene Solega, mainly covering his educational and religious life. His parents' naturalization papers from before his birth are included, but the bulk of material is within the dates of 1934 to 1983. Besides some medical records from later in his life, there is nothing included that relates to his death. Most items are personal notebooks from seminary, correspondence, official programs/memorabilia from services or ceremonies, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

The Sacred Heart church is the oldest Polish American parish in New Britain Connecticut, established in 1894.

Collection consists of two foldres with material related to church controversy during Rev. Paul Wysocki's appointment as a Pastor of the Sacred Heart church in New Britain, Connecticut. Remaining folders are related to a cemetery controversy, consisting of correspondence with church officials and attorneys for the defendant Paul Wysocki and the plaintiff the Grygorcewicz family. Material covers years 1983-1994. Two scrapbooks contain variety of material related to the church, immigrants in New Britain area and previous pastors of the church that cover years from 1916 till 1994.

It also includes position papers published by various organizations. The collection was donated by attorney Richard Kosinski, one of the members, and covers years 1979- 1995.
