16th Regiment Orderly Book (2011-88-0) is a collection of orders for the 16th Regiment of the Connecticut State Infantry.

The 17th Regiment Orderly Book (2011-89-0) was maintained from May 1, 1816 to Sept 3, 1827. The book contains general rolls which start May 1, 1816 and end May 7, 1827. The rolls list every member of the regiment that year, when they joined, and reason for removals from the regiment. There are a few orders at the end of the book.

The records consist of material from the Corporation Search Committee for the Selection of a Successor to President A. Whitney Griswold.

The records consist of correspondence, news releases, publications, a press book, and letters congratulating Yale on its 250th anniversary.

Yale University celebrated its 275th anniversary on 15 October 1976. The records primarily consist of background materials, drafts and transcripts of ceremonial remarks, and writings by invited speakers, including a commemorative poem by Archibald Macleish.

Collection of manuscripts, in multiple hands, primarily documenting Clarendon's financial activities. Many of the items are acknowledgments of debts, including one appointing Sir Robert Clayton and John Morris to act as his attorneys in order to pay interest out of his shares of the New River Waterworks to his debtors; a legal document and several receipts acknowledging Clarendon's debts and payments to others arising from shares in the New River Waterworks; and three pages of financial accounts and calculations related to those debts and payments. Other items include a request to Clayton for a copy of his father's deed settling Clarendon House on Richard Boyle, Earl of Burlington, explaining that he is weighing offers of purchase from John Granville, Earl of Bath; Christopher Monck, Duke of Albemarle, and William Cavendish, Earl of Devonshire; a letter to Clayton asking him to appoint a house where they can meet with Richard Boyle and Alan Brodrick, 1st Viscount Midleton; and another to Clayton thanking him and John Morris for a bill of credit and promising him a gift of fruit trees, including some varieties not yet in England.

The 4-H Clubs of Connecticut originated in 1913 with the establishment of the first club in Mansfield, Connecticut. A part of the United States Department of Agriculture's Cooperative Extension System, 4-H clubs have aimed to educate Connecticut's youth in agriculture, home economics, and new technologies. The 4-H Clubs of Connecticut also strives to imbue its members with important life skills, building character through the teaching of a variety of practical skills. The records consist of the papers of Connecticut 4-H club leader Augustus Jackson Brundage, who helped expand the clubs in the state following World War I, as well as numerous club publications, photographs, scrapbooks, slides, film, and administrative records.

The Aaron Baker Clark and Sarah Booth Clark Papers consist of biographical sketches, diaries, photographs, correspondence, and clippings that pertain to the missionary efforts of Episcopal minister Aaron Baker Clark and his wife, Sarah Booth Clark, relating to the Lakota people of the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. Also present are printed dictionaries and hymns in the Lakota dialect, 1889-1901, and other printed books on topics such as religion, history, geography and poetry, 1671-1971. Materials in the collection span the dates 1671 to 1971, with the bulk falling between 1876 and 1925.

Letter from Aaron Burr in New York dated 17 May 1820 to George Marsh in Albany regarding business arrangements and George Marsh's good fortune in Albany.

Collection includes poems written in response to the Persian Gulf War (1991), collected by Richard S. Emmet Aaron, a poetry bookstore owner in California whose nephew served in the U.S. Marines.

The papers consist of correspondence and business papers of Aaron Columbus Burr, merchant of New York City and adopted son of Aaron Burr. The papers relate to an attempt by Burr and James Grant to establish a colony for freed American slaves in Honduras. There is also material relating to the American Honduras Company, a firm formed by Burr and Grant for the cutting and exporting of mahogany.

Aaron Gaylord of Hartford, Conn. was a merchant and ship owner. The papers consist of correspondence, accounts and miscellaneous business papers relating to his local accounts and shipments on various vessels.

Letters between various members of the Aaron Hand Family mostly regarding family matters. Writers include Bayard Epenetus Hand, Aaron Hicks Hand and his wife Elizabeth Coit Boswell Hand, Isaac Platt Hand, and Nancy Fanning Boswell, Elizabeth's stepmother. Elizabeth Coit Boswell Hand was originally from Norwich, Conn.

The papers comprise biographical materials, correspondence, writings, and photographs documenting the career of Aaron Lerner in the field of medicine, specifically dermatology and pigmentation disorders. Materials relating to his Nobel Prize nomination are included.

The A.B. and T.G. Beach account book (1970-89-0) was maintained between the years 1872 and 1896. The front half of the ledger contains records of marriages and death's. The back half of the book contains records of estate auctions.

The records consist of correspondence, annual reports, memoranda, subject files, and gifts documenting A. Bartlett Giamatti's tenure as president of Yale.

Detailed family correspondence, writings, and collected material document the life and work of a single woman missionary in South China. Abbie G. Sanderson was an American Baptist missionary in South China from 1918 to 1937 and 1946 to 1953. She later taught at a girls' school in Sendai, Japan, and retired in 1959.

The materials consist of photographs of Abbie Sherman [supposed] documenting Yale, New Haven, Connecticut and surrounding towns, such as Clinton, Madison, and Wallingford. Also included are photographs taken in Rhode Island, New York, and New Jersey.

The papers consist primarily of student research papers, photocopies of public records, and reports on historic homes of Connecticut. Files on seventeenth century domestic architecture and on one home in Massachusettes are also included. Many of the papers and reports were completed by students in Cummings's architecture history classes at Yale University, but several reports were written by Cummings.

Appraised inventory of household furnishings and building construction belonging to Abby M. Wiggin in Litchfield, Conn.

Autograph manuscript music, including symphonies and hymns, scores; arrangements of hymns and other choral music, scores and parts; a passion-play, score, with watercolor drawings of curtain and stage designs; and notebooks containing music drafts and related notes about music and Christianity. An oversize rolled sheet contains unidentified ink and watercolor drawings.

The papers consist of Supreme Court materials, correspondence, writings, an unpublished typescript, "The Constitution and the Presidency," by former Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas. and photographs that document the various aspects of Abe Fortas's career as a law school professor, government official, lawyer in private practice, presidential advisor, patron and practitioner of the arts, public figure, and Supreme Court justice.

Abel Brace of Hartland (Conn.) is summoned to appear before Samuel Bostwick, Litchfield County Justice of the Peace in New Milford regarding the collection of taxes for the Church of England. With an apeal by Thomas Davis Oct. 5, 1764.

A letter from Abel Catlin in Litchfield, Conn. dated Sept. 2, 1823 to Joseph Burrows in New York concerning William Grimes desire to purchase his freedom from T.H. Welman. A response dated 6 Sept.1823 on the same document from Joseph Burrows with instructions to make a payment of $500 to Mr. William H. Thompson in cash and security.

A printed page: "An elegy on the death of Abel Curtis, son of Mr. Daniel Curtis, jun. of Southbury, who departed this life, November the 11th day, A.D. 1774" with a poem of 23 verses and an epitaph.

The records consist of legal documents, exhibits, correspondence, subject files, legislative files, press files, and publications. The New Haven women's liberation activist group with 858 plaintiffs' on March 2, 1971 filed a lawsuit against the state of Connecticut challenging the anti-abortion law. The case was heard by a three-judge District Court panel. On April 18, 1972 the court ruled 2-1 that Connecticut's anti-abortion law was unconstitutional. Governor Thomas J. Meskill in May 1972 by proclamation called the Connecticut General Assembly into special session to pass a new law against legal abortions. The three-judge panel on April 26, 1973 ruled 2-1 the new law was unconstitutional. The Connecticut General Assembly's Regulations Review Committee did not vote for or against Department of Health regulations governing legal abortions. In taking no action the regulations took effect by default on February 25, 1974.

A. B. Guthrie Jr. (1901-1991), Montana-born writer whose popular Western novels include The Big Sky (1947), The Way West(1949), and Fair Land, Fair Land (1982). His autobiography was published in 1965. In his later years Guthrie became an outspoken advocate of conservation in the West.

Following graduation from New York University Law School in 1967, Roy Lucas published a landmark article, "Federal Constitutional Limitations on the Enforcement and Administration of State Abortion Statutes," in the North Carolina Law Review. Soon his interest in student rights and other civil liberties issues were overwhelmed as abortion litigation came to him in ever-growing volume. In 1969 and 1970 he helped found, with Morris Dees, the James Madison Constitutional Law Institute with offices in New York City and Montgomery, Alabama.

Correspondence, printed materials, other papers, and photographs related to Abraham Hayward, as well as the research materials of Hayward biographer Brian Roberts. Outgoing correspondence includes letters to Hayward's sisters Fanny and Mary Anne Hayward, as well as publisher Richard Bentley. Incoming correspondence primarily consists of letters from members of Hayward's literary and political circles, including George Bentley; John Thaddeus Delane; Edward Everett; Alexander William Kinglake; John Murray; Henry Pelham, Duke of Newcastle; Viscountess Emily Lamb Palmerston; Horace Smith, and others. Topics discussed in Hayward's corresondence include contemporary politics; publishing concerns; London society; and invitations to dine. Third party correspondence consists of letters to Fanny Hayward.
The bulk of the printed materials consists of pamphlets, a petition, and clippings related to a controversy over the Inner Temple's rules for election to the bench, which resulted from a dissenter rejecting Hayward. Printed materials also include title pages inscribed by and to Hayward; a theater program; calling cards; clippings; and a menu from the Café de Paris. Other papers include an account of the estate of Robert Abraham, for whom Hayward was the executor; Hayward's passport (1862-1871); a design for a fruit garden; and whist instructions. Photographs consist of 12 cartes-de-visite, including portraits of Abraham Hayward; Mrs. Cornwallis West; Mrs. Wheeler; Olive Campbell; Florence de Bretton; Madaillae Florian; and Countess Fanny Karolyi.
Brian Roberts research materials consist of correspondence; typescripts for three chapters of an unfinished biography of Hayward; manuscript and typescript transcriptions of correspondence and writings related to Hayward; a biographical timeline; and other research papers.

Correspondence and writings by and about Abraham Lincoln, and a gold pen used by Lincoln. 4 ALS from Lincoln to Benjamin F. James, William M. Dickson, and to an unidentified recipient. Writings by Lincoln include an autograph praecipe issued by Lincoln for writ in his first law case, "David Woolridge vs. Hawthorne", and a fragment of a speech on slavery. Also present is a letter by Edwin Booth to Colonel A. Badeau concerning Lincoln's assassination by his brother, John Wilkes Booth, two days earlier; two volumes containing letters and writings by and about members of Lincoln's cabinet, including Andrew Johnson, Edwin M. Stanton, a letter to W. P. Fessenden regarding the attack on Petersburg, and Gideon Welles' autographed manuscript recollections on the formation of Lincoln's cabinet. Accompanied by the gold pen used by Lincoln to sign the Emancipation Proclamation, with accompanying documentation.

The papers contain correspondence, family papers, photographs, and subject files documenting the personal life and professional career of civil engineer Abraham Lincoln Fellows. Material related to William Torrence includes two albums labeled "Torrence's Views", holding pictures of the Gunnison River and presumably taken during the 1901 expedition.

Correspondence, orders, requisitions, legal papers, invoices, and inventories of Abraham L. Sands, Army officer. The papers relate primarily to the routine details of Army life in Florida and the Southeastern U.S. from 1818-1825. Correspondents include John C. Calhoun, Richard K. Call, Henry Dearborn, and James Wilkinson. There is also a small amount of material relating to the Sands and Beekman families.

The collection contains 21 reels of microfilm containing newsclippings of Senator Ribicoff's Gubernatorial and Senate careers.

The papers consist of correspondence and writings which document Abraham Robinson's professional life and work. Draft and printed copies of Robinson's books and papers comprise the bulk of the papers. Student memorabilia, diaries, and biographical material are also included in the papers.

The Law School has established Academic Centers which provide services to the community and offer practical experience to students entering the law profession. The Centers also bring scholars and industry experts together to discuss topics related to the areas they serve.

Correspondence and other documents signed by circa 200 members of the Académie française, 1637-1926 and undated, assembled by an unidentified collector, possibly American autograph collector Howes Norris, Jr. (1867-1938), of Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. Most are autograph letters, signed; other contents include literary writings, legal documents, and a few documents concerning administration of the Académie française. Many are accompanied by descriptions from vendor catalogs, engraved portraits, clippings, or notes of former owners. Correspondence includes an autograph letter, signed, from Alexis de Tocqueville to Robert Walsh, consul general of the United States in Paris, 1845 June 10.

Account Book (1972-109-3) documents transactions of an unknown blacksmith. The book is organized chronologically, and the entries included the name of the customer, sometimes a description of the job, and the price. The book may have been used as a scrapbook.

Personal account book (2011-119-0) contains entries for money lent, sent out, and brought in. The entries are organized chronologically and provide the date of the transaction, who the money was given to or taken from, what the transaction as for, and the amount of money.

Account Book (2011-120-0) for an unidentified general store from April 22, 1839 through March 25, 1840. The entries include the names with whom the transaction was made, the items purchased, the method of payment (i.e. cash), and sometimes the amount of money for each item and the total.

Account book (2011-93-0) dated 1863 through 1867, creator unknown. Includes transactions organized by date. The keeper of the records also noted what the transaction was and the amount of cash involved.

Account book (2011-98-00) contains entries for the years 1867 and 1868. The book lists out individual's names, items of purchases, and amount. The maintainer of the records also notes if the amount has been paid. Page one heading is Thomaston, Ct. October 2, 1867.

Account books (1949-40-0) contain financial and transaction records for the years 1840 through 1849 for a drugstore or dry good store. Daily business is recorded with notations of customer's names, what they purchased and the cost.

An artificial collection of account books and financial volumes, ca. 1680-1930, relating to such occupations as: farmers, merchants, traders, millers, blacksmiths, lawyers, manufacturers, laborers, physicians, shoemakers, carpenters, tailors, and cigar makers. Materials relating to private organizations and businesses are also included. The collection focuses on the Connecticut and New England region.

The books fall into three categories: farmers, storekeepers and businesses.

The papers consist of letters, newspaper clippings, printed material, and photographs, originally mounted in three volumes, which document the personal and professional life of A. C. Gilbert. Volume one documents Gilbert's athletic career, both in Oregon and then at Yale, and his interest in magic arts. Volume two relates to Gilbert's career as a manufacturer, producing magic toys, Erector sets, model trains, and other toys. The last volume concerns the A. C. Gilbert Company, Yale athletics, and hunting expeditions. An addition to the collection includes personal correspondence.

The Achilles Fang Papers document the professional and personal relationship between Achilles Fang and Ezra Pound. The papers consist of correspondence and writings, most of which date from between 1950 and 1954. The correspondence principally concerns Fang's efforts to assist Pound in the transliteration of Chinese characters and in the publication of his Confucian translations. Writings include galley proofs of and Fang's introduction to Pound's The Classic Anthology as Defined by Confucious. The bulk of the writings are drafts of Fang's doctoral dissertation, Material for the Study of Pound's Cantos.

Records of ACLU of Ohio attorneys document preparation for the retrial of Krause v. Rhodes in 1978. Because the retrial was the culmination of a long, difficult legal battle for accountability in the deaths of four students and the injury of nine others, the collection includes not just materials assembled specifically for the 1978 trial, but also materials gathered for previous lawsuits related to the May 4th, 1970, shootings at Kent State University. The collection includes documents filed in various courts such as briefs, memoranda and motions, transcripts of trial proceedings, and depositions. It also includes materials produced by the attorneys and their staff, such as correspondence, research memoranda, legal stragety communications, and witness files of individuals who testified at one or more trials.

The Adair Family Papers document the descendants of Benjamin Adair, who was one of the few prominent Black landowners in Westport during the 19th century.

Thirteen large photographs of Cambodian and Vietnamese people. The individuals in the photographs have all been affected by the Vietnam War in some way. In addition to the Vietnam War, some of the individuals in the photographs from Cambodia were also affected by the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot.

This collection documents the Adams family descended from Nathaniel Adams (1716-1784) from the late 18th century to the mid 20th century. The Adams family settled in Fairfield in the 1650s and later moved to the Green's Farms and Westport area. They were landowners and farmers in the early days with later generations were involved in education, commerce, and the church. Regular detailed letters between parents and children, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins show how this New England family stayed in close touch even as branches of the family moved to the Midwest or California. The Adamses were pillars of Westport area society and the collection shows their interconnectedness with other area families, including the Davies, Jennings, Wakeman, and Hyde families. From 1837 until his retirement due to ill health in 1867, Ebenezer Banks Adams Sr. was head of the Adams Academy, which had been built by his future father-in-law Thomas F. Davies, Pastor of the Green's Farms Congregational Church. Adams Academy was a successful college preparatory school that played a major role in Westport. Writings from various generations of the Adams family, legal and property documents, financial records, biographical documentation and collected memorabilia are a treasure trove of detailed information about civic and family life in the Westport area.

Adam T. Raczkowski, a World War I veteran of the American army, was gassed by Germans in France in 1918. He received the Purple Heart 65 years later. Mr. Raczkowski was active in the Polish Falcons in Southington, CT and participated in their numerous sports events. Collection includes a unique photo from a Falcon's field Day in Meriden CT in 1915.

The Addie Stephens Ray friendship album (1966-09-0) was given to Addie Stephens (later the wife of William Ray) by Leonard W. Bacon in Litchfield, Connecticut on September 7, 1860. The album contains signatures and versus from friends. The signatures were collected from the year 1860 through 1862 in various locations such as Litchfield, CT, Saratoga Springs,NY, Hartford, CT and New Marlboro, MA.

Chiefly account books kept by Addie W. Hale, wife of Charles Reverdy Hale, of Meriden, Connecticut recording her household expenses. Also in the accounts is her income from mending and from giving music and arithmetic lessons, together with notes on her allocation of time and on her arithmetic assignments. Her husband is frequently mentioned in the accounts as is a sister-in-law, Ida Hale Whitlock. An account book kept by Bryant Burwell Glenny, Jr. and a diary by L. S. Stocking are also in the papers.

The archives of Addison Emery Verrill, accumulated over his lifetime, notably including Yale teaching and research materials.

The Adee Dodge Papers consist of drawings, research files, financial records, correspondence, and biographical files documenting the life and work of Navajo visual artist and linguist Adee Dodge. Personal papers consist chiefly of biographical documentation compiled by Dodge's daughter, Nanabah Grogan. Business papers document Dodge's uranium prospecting business in the 1950s. Research files document Dodge's research on the Navajo language and on the comparative mythology of peoples of the Native Southwest and other world cultures, including Europe and India. Also included is a transcript of the autobiography of Alex Charging Crow (also known as Alex Adams) in Lakota and in English. The custodial history of this autobiography, and Dodge's relationship to it, are undetermined. Artwork consists chiefly of sketches by Dodge, some of which are drafts of paintings. Photographs document Dodge's life and family, the landscape and people of the Navajo Nation, and Dodge's paintings. Other material includes realia (two wool rugs and art supplies).

The Adele Gutman Nathan Theatrical Collection Addition consists of letters, manuscripts, printed material, and photographs documenting the life and career of Nathan's life and achievement in the theater, as an author, as a journalist, and as a pageant producer. Included in Series I are drafts of a children's book about Major John Andre, drafts of a novel, "What is a Man Profited," printed copies f newspaper columns by Nathan, motion picture scenarios programs for the Cellar Players and the Little Lyric Theatre, production materials for a number of pageants in such locales as Rochester, New York, Niagara Falls, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Included in Projects in Series II are notes chronicling Nathan's participation in the motion picture, Reds. Among the correspondents in Series III are Fannie Hurst, Padraic Colum, Leon Kroll, and Eugene O'Neill. Series IV. and V. contain various personal papers, such as scrapbooks, and photographs.
Series VI comprises items from Nathan's sister, Elizabeth Gutman Kaye, a painter and singer of folk songs.

The Adele Gutman Nathan Theatrical Collection Addition consists of letters, manuscripts, printed material, and photographs documenting Nathan's life and achievements in the theater, as an author, as a journalist, and as a pageant producer. Included are drafts of children's books about the lives of Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln, programs for the Cellar Players and the Little Lyric Theatre, production notes for a centennial celebration for Rochester, New York, and radio scripts.

Music and other materials by Adelina Carola Appleton (1886-1958).

The collection consists of letters sent to New England resident Adella Fowler Larkin by her family and friends during the second half of the nineteenth century. The letters are personal in nature and discuss people, fashion, news, events, health, and activities of the correspondents. Prominent in the collection are letters from her sister Myra Fowler McFarland, a teacher with the American Missionary Association working in Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia before, during, and immediately after the Civil War, and letters from her stepbrother George B. Pratt, a newspaperman writing from Ohio and Wisconsin. Also present are nine installments of the "Milwaukee bad boy" stories by George W. Peck clipped from an unidentified newspaper, a valentine published by T. W. Strong, New York, and an advertising circular from Lucy Guild of Rupert, Vermont, promoting her Crystal Palace Chart for dressmaking.
