Collections

This collection contains bookplates by the Dutch artist Wim Zwiers. Many are signed proofs or numbered prints. Of particular note are drawings and proofs for a bookplate Zwiers designed for Irene D. Andrews Pace. In addition to bookplates, the collection contains several New Year's greeting cards also designed by Zwiers.

Series 1: Job Files, 1985-2004 - Organized chronologically by job number (Boxes 1-14, oversized 1 and 2). Series contains: Correspondence, plans, proposals, shop drawings, sketches, construction schedules, certificates for payments, clippings, inspections, bids, and reports.

A collection of twenty-five posters documenting Yiddish theater in Argentina and Poland during the years 1917-1958. Most posters feature the work of Yiddish poet, writer, editor and playwright Nechemia Zucker. The collection also contains a folder of newspaper clippings, advertisements, title pages, journals, and works written or edited by Nechemia Zucker.

The Norman Zolot Papers consist of legal case files, primarily concerning labor disputes in the state of Connecticut between the years 1947 and 1979. In addition to legal case files, the collection contains printed reference materials related to state and national labor unions and issues during the period. The collection was originally donated to the Connnecticut State Library in 1979, and was transfered to the University of Connecticut in 1991. There are no restrictions regarding the use of this collection. The papers are organized into five series.

The bulk of the Zion's Hill Cemetery Association Collection is made up of binders containing different versions of the cemetery index, along with plot maps. Additional records include maps of the cemetery and the adjacent church property, a map of veterans' graves, financial records, correspondence, burial and cremation procedures, and information on maintenance and preservation efforts.

The correspondence, writings and photographs in this collection document the translations, psychoanalytic practice and scholarship of Gregory Zilboorg, the relationship between Gregory and Margaret Zilboorg (neé Stone) and Gregory Zilboorg's photographic portraiture. Most of the papers date from the 1940s and early 1950s and document Zilboorg's personal life and writings (including translations and writings on the history of psychiatry). The papers illustrate the work of a prominent analyst at a time when psychoanalysis had a significant influence on the New York literary circle in which Zilboorg worked.

The James and Eugenia Zilboorg Papers document the experience of a middle class Jewish family in Kiev that emigrates to the United States, Mexico and Palestine. The papers consist of family correspondence, business correspondence, other personal papers, photographs and printed material documenting the life of James and Eugenia Zilboorg and their families. The two largest groups of letters are between James and Eugenia Zilboorg and between the Zilboorgs and the Gel'fman family.

Chiefly correspondence, also includes manuscripts submitted, and some publicity material.

The papers include correspondence, writings, and photographs relating to the life and career of Sophia Tierong Zhu. Autobiographical writings about Zhu and her husband, Zhang Ifan, who were both victims of anti-rightist movements in China, comprise a substantive part of the papers. The collection also documents Zhu's close relationship with many English Language Instructors from Yale University.

These records provide valuable documentation of an indigenous program of the church in China during the years 1939 to 1950. The correspondence and writings of Archie R. Crouch also provide interesting insight into the experiences of a Western missionary serving under Chinese leadership. Crouch was English-language secretary of the Department in China 1944-1946; he continued to promote the Department and correspond with its leaders after his return to the United States.
