Collections

Single manuscripts and small groups of manuscripts, including literary manuscripts, letters, and other documents. Materials are grouped under headings by author or corporate name.

The collection consists of client files and biographical material related to Herbert Matter. The client files provide examples of Matter's logo, advertisement, and publication designs for several well known businesses, including Knoll, Inc., Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the New Haven Railroad. The biographical material contains both works created by Matter, such as promotional material and photographs, as well as works about Matter, such as published articles and papers related to his teaching career at Yale. The majority of materials in this collection were amassed in support of a retrospective exhibition which took place at the Yale University Art and Architecture Gallery from January 16 to February 3, 1978.

The records consist of account books and scrapbooks documenting office expenses, attendance, student loans, and notifications and regulations of Yale College.

The records consist of questionnaires, correspondence, minutes, reports, and notes documenting the plans and deliberations of the Yale College Ad Hoc Committee on Residential Deanships.

The volumes document academic performance of students from the Classes of 1813-1918, Yale College.

The materials consist of a motion picture film documenting senior year events and the 6th anniversary reunion of the Yale College Class of 1927.

The records consist of the class secretary's files and a brochure documenting a war memorial scholarship sponsored by the Yale College Class of 1940.

The records consist of orations and poems given at Yale commencement exercises.

The records consist of correspondence, meeting minutes, memoranda, and reports documenting the operations and activities of various Yale College committees. Included are reports on scholarship committees, statistics on course offerings, minutes of the Course of Study and Honors Committees, petitions for degrees, minutes of the Committee on the Status of Minority Students, and minutes and correspondence from Yale College committees concerning undergraduate policies and activities.
