Collections

The papers consist of laboratory notebooks, lecture notes, patient charts, correspondence and photographs, primarily documenting the medical career of Francis Gilman Blake, including his tenure as Dean of the Yale School of Medicine and medical research. Also included is correspondence to his wife documenting his personal life.

The Francis Gordon Brown Papers are made up of correspondence, newspaper clippings, and photographs which relate chiefly to the 1899 and 1900 seasons of the Yale College football team, of which Brown was captain. Included are letters to Walter Camp from Yale men commenting on the games of November and December, 1900, and a letter from Camp to Brown (December 18, 1900) on football strategy. Of particular interest is a letter from Theodore Roosevelt (June 22, 1901) inviting Brown to a gathering at Oyster Bay along with other Yale and Harvard athletes where Roosevelt hoped to encourage a "more vivid interest of a practical kind in politics." There is also a scrapbook containing tickets, badges, programs, menus, newspaper clippings and other Yale memorabilia, in addition to letters and photographs of the team.

The papers contain correspondence, speeches, reports, scrapbooks, and other material documenting the political career of Francis G. Newlands. The papers highlight Nevada Democratic and Silver Party politics and focus on Newlands's legislative programs on transportation, particularly railroads and inland waterways, interstate commerce, irrigation, flood control, land reclamation, currency and silver, conservation and forests, and tariffs. An addition to the collection contains over 600 personal letters to and from the Newlands family members, financial files, photographs, and topical files.

Notes and correspondence pertaining to East Haddam.

The papers consist primarily of writings and teaching files which document the professional career of Francis Anscombe.

The collection comprises a manuscript diary covering the years 1901-1902, written in 1912 from notes taken during that time period. Francis John Baker provides lengthy, detailed descriptions of his experiences in the Boer War and daily camp life. Military documents, family correspondence, and photographs are included.

Collection contains letters by Louis Carré, Marcel Duchamp,Walter Pach, Gaby Villon, Jacques Villon, and others to Francis Steegmuller and his wife, Beatrice Stein Steegmuller, generally concerning Jacques Villon. Also included is a typescript about Villon by Lionello Venturi, several photographs of Jacques and Gaby Villon and others, and drawings done by Beatrice Stein when she was a student of Villon.
