The papers contain correspondence and family papers documenting aspects of the career and friendships of Rebecca Salsbury James, especially her involvement with the Stieglitz circle. Correspondents include Marsden Hartley, Georgia O'Keeffe, Isabel Lachaise, and Frieda Lawrence.

The collection contains letters to and from West, including extensive correspondences with Emanie Sachs Arling and Doris Stevens, as well as letters from Norman Mackenzie, Sara Tugander Melville, Jonathan Mitchell, Harold F. Rubinstein, and Reginald Turner; miscellaneous writings by West; and correspondence and memorabilia of West assembled by Gordon S. Haight.

The papers consist of correspondence to and from West, correspondence of her husband Henry Andrews, writings of Rebecca West, writings of others, personal papers, and writings about Rebecca West.

The collection consists of promotional material, including form letters, maps, reprints of newspaper articles, and publications, that describe oil and mining investment opportunities in various Western states, including Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico, during the time period of the Great Depression. The materials were sent to R. E. Blair as a prospective investor in oil and mining ventures.

Manuscript and printed indexes and summary volumes prepared by regional abstract companies to record the history of real property titles and other financial and legal transactions in Fremont, Teller, and El Paso counties in Colorado, 1861-1972, with the bulk of the collection dating from the height of the Cripple Creek gold rush, 1890-1910. The records consist chiefly of summary accounts created by regional abstract companies from official records maintained in the Fremont, Teller, and El Paso county clerks' offices to document the acquisition and transfer of real property, mining claims, powers of attorney, and tax delinquencies. The records created by abstract companies are accompanied by small groups of business records from local institutions and individuals, as well as 22 printed maps and one disbound volume of plat maps from the region.

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, and other material documenting the personal and professional relationship between Gorczynski and Czesław Miłosz.
Series I, Correspondence, is organized into subseries for Miłosz, Gorczynski and Third-Party correspondence. The Miłosz correspondence contains several folders of correspondence with Gorczynski, dating from 1979-1991, as well as holograph drafts of outgoing letters and single incoming letters with other writers, friends, publishers, and institutions. Other correspondents include Lars Gyllensten, Östen Sjöstrand, Wacław Korabiewicz, Jadwiga Stańczakowa, and André de Vincenz. The Gorczynski correspondence consists of incoming letters from Stanisław Barańczak, Maria Janion, Piotr Kłoczowski, Ryszard Przybylski, and Tomas Venclova.
Series II, Writings, is organized into subseries for the writings of Miłosz, Gorczynski, and others. The Miłosz writings include essays and lectures, poetry, translations, and other writings. There are holograph drafts of essays and lectures, including drafts in English and Polish for the Charles Eliot Norton lectures delivered in 1981-82, and numerous corrected copies of poems. The Gorczynski writings contain corrected typescript drafts of books edited by Gorczynski and several interviews with Miłosz.
Series III, Other Material, contains audio recordings, photographs, and other papers.
