The records date from the organization's founding in 1949 and include administrative correspondence, application files, financial and fund-raising records, internal reports, audio recordings and transcripts of guest lectures and craft discussions, audio recordings of board meetings and play readings, photographs, scrapbooks holding clippings about the organization, artwork and production materials for New Dramatists newsletters and publications, and other files related to the group's management and activities, including the ScriptShare program. Prominent in the collection are more than seven hundred play and screenplay scripts which formed a script library at the New Dramatists' office. They include drafts and final scripts by playwrights Robert Anderson, James Baldwin, Sydney Chandler, James Leo Herlihy, Romulus Linney, John McGowan, Lanford Wilson, and John Wolfson, among others, some of which are annotated with production notes. Unique to the collection are a group of whimsical doodles created by theatre celebrities and a set of autographed sign-in boards from the New Dramatists' annual spring luncheons (1980-1996). With the exception of one play script from 1931, the records primarily date from the organization's founding in 1949 through the 1988-1989 season.

The collection contains bound volumes of manuscript meeting minutes for the New Haven East Association and the Consociation of the County of New Haven, New Haven East Consociation, Association of the County of New-Haven, and New Haven Union Association of Congregational Ministers. Also present are other records and papers related to the business of the association, its member churches and foreign missions, its mutual improvement societies, and a painted metal box that formerly held the records.

The collection contains bound volumes of manuscript meeting minutes for the New Haven West Association, along with other records and papers related to the business of the association such as missions to New York State and cases regarding specific clergy members. Also present are meeting minutes for the New Haven West Conference of Churches, the constitution of the Consociation of the Western District of New Haven County, a printed memorial to Reverend William Patton, and a decorated trunk that formerly held the records.

Twenty photographs of sites and portraits of people on and near levees surrounding New Orleans, Louisiana, created by Karen Halverson in spring 2015. Images include views of buildings and ships as well as people in Orleans Parish and Jefferson Parish.

The collection documents all aspects of the production and promotion of the literary magazine New World Writing from its first issue in 1952 to its last issue in 1959. Correspondence, including letters by and about various authors whose work was published in the magazine, and manuscripts, including corrected typescripts of published works, shed light on the selection and editorial process. Highlights include the corrected typescript of "Catch-18" by Joseph Heller, originally published in issue #7, which became the first chapter of Catch-22. Files of the executive editor, Arabel J. Porter, and the promotion department variously document the work involved in producing and publicizing individual issues, while files of comments, reviews, and clippings document how the magaine was received. Also found are files relating to some of the more general business of the magazine.

The Nichols Family Correspondence consists almost entirely of letters addressed to the three generations of the Nichols family who owned the printing firm Nichols & Co. and edited and published the Gentleman's Magazine from 1778 to 1856. The letters document a portion of the publication history of the magazine, particularly the professional and personal relationships between the Nicholses and their contributors. The collection also documents other publication projects of Nichols & Co., as well as the Nichols's antiquarian and literary interests.

The Nicola Chiaromonte Papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, clippings and notebooks documenting the professional life of Chiaromonte. Prominent correspondents include Lionel Abel, Andrea Caffi, Albert Camus, Mary McCarthy, Dwight MacDonald, Gaetano Salvemini, and Ignzaio Silone. Series II contains typescripts, notes and clippings of many articles by Chiaromonte, including several concerning the Spanish Civil War, as well as three boxes of his theater reviews. There are also over eighty notebooks kept by Chiaromonte from 1923 until his death.

The papers contain letters to and from Nadezhin regarding social engagements, manuscript submissions, and requests for performances. The bulk of the correspondence consists of letters from Bryher discussing Nadezhin's work, literature in general, and personal matters. The collection also contains drafts of Nadezhin's articles, poetry, and autobiography, as well as biographical information, concert programs, and photographs.

The Nina Berberova Collection contains correspondence, writings, printed material, photographs, audiovisual recordings and electronic files by and relating to Nina Berberova, especially the latter decades of her life. The material was collected and donated by Murl Barker and John Malmstad.
