This collection contains every issue of the University of Hartford's English Department magazine of student writing, Aerie from 1996 - 2017. The collection also contains a few notices pertaining to submission guidelines.

The collection consists of the artwork, papers, and photographs of Alan Tompkins during his career as an artist and teacher from the 1930s to 2007. Tompkins artwork in this collection consists of a wide variety of mediums including drawings, sketches, studies, as well as final versions of illustrations, prints, paintings, pastels, and watercolors. These works vary in style and subject matter. His papers consist primarily of his writings which consist of journal entries, notes, and his written thoughts on art and art education. His papers also include some lectures, speeches, research materials, publicity materials, correspondence, as well as items pertaining to his work and family history. The photographs in the collection are often of his artwork. These include photographs of works in progress in his studio and completed murals. However, there are also personal photographs of Tompkins and people who were close to him.

The collection contains Trainer of Trainers Research Literature Papers submitted to the Association Montessori Internationale.

The collection consists primarily of documents pertaining to the United Nations Conference on International Organization held in San Francisco, CA in 1945. The materials are primarily in English, but there are copies of documents that are in French. Most of the documents are from the conference, but there are also notes taken by Atwood Collins, as well as memorandums to/from Atwood Collins during the two-month conference.

Collection contains documents collected by Bess Graham Educational Secretary of the Hartford YWCA regarding the History of Mt. Holyoke and the establishment of the Hartford Junior College. Contents span from 1939 to 1970.

This collection contains newspaper clippings, event planning and promotional materials, meeting minutes, membership lists, correspondence, general financial records and reports, and a number of foundational documents for Brothers and Sisters United (formerly the Black People's Union and AASA). This collection mostly spans from the early 1970s up to the early 2000s with a handful of documents from the early 2000s up until 2018.

The collection consists of banners signed by each class at the University of Hartford, starting with the Class of 2002 through the Class of 2019.

The collection contains the records of the College of Arts and Sciences regarding its faculty, staff, and departments. Materials include administrative records, photographs, newspapers, letters/memo, advertisements, flyers and brochures, faculty records, and other related media are included within this collection. These records originate from 1939 to 2021. The bulk of the records are from 1960 to 1990.

The collection consists primarily of subject files including annual reports, accreditations and self-studies, public information, correspondence, histories, buildings and facilities records, and some material about individual faculty members. The collection also includes photographs and videotapes.

At this time, the majority of the collection consists of records pertaining to the creation of the University High School of Science and Engineering. This includes designs for the physical space, as well as plans for, and evaluations of, the curriculum and operations of the school. The remainder of the collection is rather small and currently includes only a small number of photographs and a subject file pertaining to CETA.

Collection of materials related to Mt. Holyoke in Hartford and Hartford College for Women created by Dorothy Mylchreest Redmond. The collection includes correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, a scrapbook, and other ephemera from 1935-1988, with the bulk of materials from 1935-1940.

The collection consists of letters, cards, newspaper clippings, and press releases saved by the Dunbar Family pertaining to Leo D. Canine. This includes cards that were sent by students and staff when Leo was sick, as well as a fundraising letter and flier pertaining to the class of 1977 senior gift which raised money to create a portrait of Leo.

The Educational Main Street (EMS) records consist of a wide variety of records that were brought to the archives after the program closed. The collection contains publications like their literacy magazine and various newsletters; files on various programs, both from EMS and from other educational organizations; instructional handbooks for students, tutors, and parents; evaluations and assesments of EMS; general office records; photographs of EMS events; and artifacts.

The collection consists of scores and sheet music composed and arranged by Edward Miller while he was a faculty member of the Hartt College of Music and Oberlin College.

The majority of the collection consists of materials pertaining to the creation of opera sets and costumes designed by Elemer Nagy throughout his career as an opera director and stage designer. These materials include colorful drawings, sketches, and tracings of set and costume designs, as well as production notes and large lantern slides he created to project scenery.

The collection consists primarily of documents pertaining to some of their annual dinners in the 1970s including invitations, memorandums, clippings, and speeches. The collection also includes pamphlets, photographs, and Russell Ahlquist's plaque.

The collection consists primarily of the correspondence of Ernest Bloch from 1918-1952 (bulk 1918-1928), as well as various biographies, reviews, and lists of Ernest Bloch's work. The collection also contains other materials about memorials and tributes to Ernest Bloch including the Ernest Bloch Society.

The collection consists of faculty senate meeting minutes, committee records, and subject files from 1960 to 2014. The collection documents the academic issues and decisions made by the Faculty Senate primarily concerning faculty policies and curriculum of the University.

The George Michael Evica papers consist of the notes, research materials, manuscripts, and published works of George Michael Evica. The majority of the collection pertains to his research and writing on the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The papers also include Evica's research and writing on myth, literature, poetry, film studies, and theater.

The collection consists primarily of correspondence and photographs from 1900-1956, with the bulk of the collection dating from 1928-1951. The correspondence is mostly between Harold Bauer and Moshe Paranov. The photographs are primarily portraits and group photographs of his master classes, but also includes a few photographs of Bauer with members of the Julius Hartt School of Music.

The collection consists of records pertaining to the creation of Hartbeat magazine as well as copies of the magazine from 2011 - 2018. The magazine is published twice per year (Fall and Spring) with the exception of the Fall of 2017, an issue was not published that semester.

The collection contains records of the Hartford Art School, as well as material gathered about the school. The collection contains some histories written about the school, photographs and information about the art school's buildings and facilities; financial records; Corporator, Board, and Committee records; information and clippings about art school personnel; records of the HAS Auxiliary and their popular House and Garden Tours; materials pertaining to events and exhibitions of student and faculty works; photographs and clippings of HAS Students; and copies of student publications and theses (1969-1988). Most of the material dates from the early 1900s through the 1980s. The Hartford Art School Inc. also maintains an archive which contains some of the school's earliest records.

The HCW collection consists primarily of the archives of the college before its merger with the University of Hartford and during the transition years. The collection will be of special interest to researchers in the history of women's education in the twentieth century.

This collection contains correspondence, biographical information, programs, newspaper clippings, and photographs of guest artists who visited or performed at the Hartt School primarily in the 1960s and 1970s.

The collection consists primarily of recordings from the Hartt Recording Studio, as well as their annotated programs of recorded performances, and a card catalog of the recordings. The annotated programs cover 1952-1999 and primarily provide the identification number(s) of the corresponding analog recordings, as well as corrections or changes to the printed program and the start and stop times of different portions of the performances on the recordings. The card catalog contains information on recordings from 1960-1984 and is searchable by group, performer, and composer.

The collection contains minutes, brochures, concert programs, photographs, accreditation/self-study reports, and other material documenting the Hartt School Community Division.

The collection contains memos, correspondence, reports, and a small number of photographs generated during the tenures of Deans Mattran, Harris, Smith, and Morrison

This collection contains material related to the activities of administrators and faculty of the Hartt School. These materials include programs, correspondence, writings, compositions, newspaper clippings, photographs, and faculty data.

Records in this collection contain a combination of programs from the festivals, newspaper clippings and publicity materials, professional headshots and biographies of the composers, correspondence with guests and the press, and drafts of press releases and program layouts.

The Hartt School phonograph records consists of phonograph recordings which feature Hartt School students, faculty, and alumni as performers, conductors, and/or composers in recordings from 1938-1986. The collection was initially started by Moshe Paranov, and has been added to over the years. Recordings include Hartt ensembles, albums featuring Hartt faculty and alumni, as well as radio, festival, and other live recorded performances. The live recorded events oftentimes feature Moshe Paranov as the conductor and are frequently for non-Hartt School ensembles. Some recordings in the collection were accompanied with materials such as programs, newspaper clippings, correspondence, performer information, and other ephemera.

The collection contains a variety of professional and personal items including correspondence, memorabilia, and photographs. Many of the photographs are of Kahn and her family members, particularly her husband and Hartt Professor Samuel Berkman, as well as of colleagues, students, and visiting performers. Many of the photographs have inscriptions and autographs.

The Isadore Freed collection consists of photographs, newspaper clippings, press releases, compositions, and concert programs pertaining to Isadore Freed at the Julius Hartt School of Music and the Hartt College of Music. The collection also includes short bios, resumes, and completed questionnaires which provide background information on Freed's career.

The collection consists primarily of photographs taken by Jeff Feldmann of the University of Hartford campus and its athletic programs. University events like commencements, move-in day, and the Special Olympics are also included in the collection. The collection also includes correspondence and memorabilia that Feldmann collected while working at the University. Much of his correspondence is with University Presidents Stephen Joel Trachtenberg and Walter Harrison. Among his memorabilia are several autographed items from University athletes and alumni.

The photographs is this collection document performances at the Hartt School.

The collection consists of photographs by Jennifer Lester including CDs, negatives, contact sheets, and some colored photos from Hartt School performances from 2001-2007. The photographs cover a wide variety of performances from plays to jazz and dance. The negatives in the collection are not duplicates of the color prints or images on CD.

The collection consists primarily of recordings collected by, and often featuring, Joan Glazier. Recordings featuring Glazier consist of performances at the Hartt School, including faculty recitals and Hartt Opera Theater Guild productions, and performances associated with other organizations outside of the Hartt School. Many of the recordings that do not feature Glazier are related to organizations and/or events to which Glazier was associated. The collection also includes small number of other materials including concert programs, two theater scripts, Hartt School ephemera and artifacts, and a small collection of music compositions that Glazier utilized for vocal technique instruction.

This collection contains material concerning the Lincoln Institute and other related organizations.

This collection consists primarily of printed music and scores, and in some cases synopses, texts, and instructions, and correspondence regarding organ compositions and performances. Many of these compositions were composed and/or performed for the International Contemporary Organ Music Festival. The collection also contains programs from Holtz's performances, scrapbooks and publicity materials of his career and the organ festival, as well as notes, writings, and other various papers.

The collection contains printed ephemera and photographs related to Wion's career as a flutist from 1956-2019. Ephemera includes newspaper clippings of stories and reviews of Wion's performances and recordings, as well as programs from various performances and talks. The photographs are mostly publicity photographs and portraits, but there are also candid photographs from concerts, meetings, and conferences. The collection also includes a digital copy of Wion's memoir, Wood, Silver and Gold.

This is a small collection of original material documenting the life of Julius Hartt, founder of the Hartt School of Music. The contents of this collection are mostly personal, reflecting the family and social activities of Julius Hartt.

These materials consist primarily of the minutes of the Julius Hartt Musical Foundation Board of Trustees and its committees. The collection also contains some supplementary material which may have been used by the board.

This collection consists primarily of documents pertaining to Julius Smith Augur from the year of 1901 to 1941. Most of the documents are from his time at Hillyer Evening School as Director and later as Dean of Hillyer Junior College including notes, course catalogs, memorandums, provisional policy, and a report. There are also newspaper clippings, personal correspondence, a Hillyer Junior College patch, a Hillyer Junior College Diploma for Gertrude Augur, and photographs of his family as well as his days as a student.

The collection contains letters, memos, programs, press releases, newspaper clippings, transcripts, and recordings of Keller lecture events. The collection also contains records of the University of Hartford Committee on Keller Lectures, which includes meeting minutes, financial records, and other materials including records of two events honoring Carolyn Keller.

The collection consists of publications written by Marcia Seabury including books, chapters, poetry, and articles on a range of topics including interdisciplinary studies, general education, literature, and the University of Hartford All-University Curriculum.

The Mary Mack Papers consists of programs from various Hartt performances and student recitals, correspondence, and assorted personal and professional papers.

The collection consists of William S. Millard's Civil War diary, a letter Millard wrote to his mother, his certificate of membership for the 14th Regiment of the New York State Militia (which became New York's 84th Infantry Regiment), as well as a letter from Joseph Millard to his mother, a copy of an etching of Colonel Ellsworth, and a newspaper clipping (undated, but post-civil war).

The collection contains reference files on individuals and topics associated with the University of Hartford.

This collection consists of memos, correspondence, and working files created by the Office of the President of the University of Hartford primarily during the administrations of Humphrey Tonkin and Walter Harrison. The collection also contains a smaller amount of material generated during the tenure of Stephen Trachtenberg.

This collection consists mostly of personal and family correspondence, including letters written by Moshe to Pauline while he was in the military during World War I and letters from Myra Hess to Pauline Paranov, among others. The collection also includes newspaper clippings, performance programs, and photographs pertaining to the Paranov family members and their involvement with the Julius Hartt Musical Foundation. The collection also includes some materials pertaining to the Julius Hartt family, of which Pauline was also a part, as well as audio recordings of a few children's operas performed by the Julius Hartt School of Music and an oral history recorded by Pauline Paranov.

The collection consists of newspaper clippings, press releases, programs, planning documents, photographs, and recordings pertaining to convocations, commencements, and other University hosted events (primarily speakers, lectures, conferences, and other ceremonies) from 1957 to the present. The collection is not exhaustive and information pertaining to events may be found in other collections.

The collection consists of recordings made by the University of Hartford Student Television Network Channel 2 (STN2) from 1992 to 2021. The majority of the collection consists of aircheck and show tapes of their newscasts from 1992-2014. These tapes are primarily UMatic tapes, but there are also DVCPro, VHS, and MiniDV tapes as well. The collection includes original digital news broadcasts starting in Fall 2012. The collection also includes recordings of sports and other special events.

This collection houses the personal and professional papers of Stuart Saunders Smith from the beginning of his career in 1960 to the present (last additions to the collection were in 2018). The most extensive parts of this collection are Smith's compositions, recordings, and correspondence. Photographs, awards, programs, publicity materials, and writings are also included in the collection. All of which reveal the nature of Smith's professional career, family life as a father and son, and the various intersections therein.

The collection contains digital Student Government Association (SGA) records including agendas, meeting minutes, resolutions, constitutions, and other SGA notes and resources from 2020-2022.

This collection consists of newspaper clippings, press releases, correspondence, memos, University publications and other material that were generated and/or collected by the University of Hartford regarding student unrest at the University of Hartford and other campuses in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s. Protests and student activism were directed at a range of issues like civil rights, the Vietnam War, and free speech, as well as more local issues impacting the student newspaper and student government. Much of the material was originally collected by Alan Wilson.

The collection includes a number of student publications which were short-lived and/or no longer produced. Longer running or currently active student publications may have their own collections.

This collection covers the musical compositions of Timothy Cheney from 1926 to 1999. The majority of this collection includes Cheney's compositions with a small portion dedicated to his poetry, correspondence, and other publicity materials.

These folio size scrapbooks contain an extensive collection of newspaper clippings documenting how the university was treated by the press for three decades as well as advertising campaigns in newspapers and publications created by the University. Finally, the collection also contains University publications such as leaflets, pamphlets, brochures, and booklets.

The collection consists of the records of The Associates of the University of Hartford. The majority of the records are brochures and membership rosters, but the collection also contains event invitations, articles, press releases, and printed ephemera.

This collection documents the early history of the University of Hartford, beginning with the original talks held by the founders. The collection contains original legal documents, blueprints, correspondence, memos, receipts, and photographs. There are also several written and oral histories written about the founding from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

The University of Hartford Staff Council (UHSC) records consists primarily of general and executive board meeting records including agendas, minutes, and reports from 1997-2016. The records also include additional subject files from 2000-2015 including membership information, constitutions and bylaws, correspondence, pamphlets, and other matters related to staff and the council.

This collection contains every issue of the University of Hartford Studies in Literature (UHSL) from 1969 - 1991, as well as a few memorandums, press releases, clippings, and a photograph.

This series contains a variety of material related to Coffin's term of office. Much of the material is published information. The collection also contains some more personal information such as correspondence between Coffin and his staff.

The collection contains correspondence, reports, memorandums, printed ephemera, meeting minutes, photographs, and audio-visual recordings from the Ward College of Technology from 1948 until its merger with the College of Engineering in 2003.

The Women+ For Change records include photographs, scrapbooks, calendars, posters, and other promotional materials from 2008-2024 related to the student organization and its efforts to promote feminism and positive self-image outside of class discussions.

The majority of the collection pertains to the programs offered or funded by the Women's Advancement Initiative.

The collection contains the records of WWUH from 1967 to 2008. Included within this collection are program guides, meeting records, photographs, newspapers, scrapbooks, and clippings.

The collection consists of yearbooks for the University of Hartford, as well as its schools and colleges. Some of the yearbooks in the collection belong to Hillyer College, Hartt College of Music, and the Hartford College for Women before they were part of the University of Hartford. The collection also includes one yearbook from University High School, a magnet school located on the University's campus.
