Pegi Deitz Shea was born 22 September 1960, in Matawan, NJ, the daughter of George A. Deitz (a high school teacher and coach) and Margaret J. (a legal secretary) Devlin. She attended Rutgers College, Rutgers University (1982) and has been awarded the Evelyn Hamilton Award for Creative Writing, Rutgers College (1982).
The collection consists primarily of the correspondence of Robert Hauser and Michael McCurdy, friends and business associates from 1967 to 2003, as well as detailed documentation of the their collaboration in the creation of Face to Face. In addition, the collection contains prospectus mailers, signed prints, original wood block engravings, and photographs ranging from 1967 to 2000, which document both the friendship and professional collaboration of the two men.
The Penmaen Press was an imprint created by its proprietor, Michael McCurdy, with the goal of producing high quality hand-printed books. McCurdy designed and supervised the layout of each Penmaen production, and frequently supplied his own woodcut engravings as illustrations.
The collection contains the interviews of individuals who have AIDS and those who work with or care for AIDS patients. The resulting film, "People Like Us," was developed to motivate young adults to practice safer sex. The film has received international awards and has been widely used in AIDS education programs.
The Peter E. Lynch Railroad Collection consists of materials almost exclusively associated with the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad (a.k.a. New Haven Railroad), including timetables, arranged package car service lists, and train order forms. Also includes a Western Maryland Railroad mortgage bond (1870) and a Penn Central timetable (1969).
Papers consist of binders and scrapbooks of photographic prints, photographic negatives, newspaper articles, emails and notes related to the New Haven Railroad, Conrail, Penn Central, and other railroads, with the focus mostly in western Connecticut. Many of the photographs were taken by Peter C. McLachlan in his youth and when he served as an engineer for the New Haven Railroad, Conrail and Penn Central beginning in 1959, with many other photographs taken by McLachlan on vacations and fan trips, predominantly in the U.S. and Canada. The collection includes historical shots of the New Haven Railroad's locomotives, yards and structures, taken by other photographers.
Peter S. Barth, retired professor and former Head of the Economics Department at the University of Connecticut, was appointed Executive Director of the National Commission on State Workmen's Compensation Laws. The collection contains annotated photocopies of the hearings and statements presented to the Commission on for discussion in 1971-1972.
