Pre-publication prototype of book, cover as in published version, with photocopied typescript text (instead of letterpress), 191 x 141, no title page, no photo (of P. Grainger), by hand: PG Tips, June 1981. 8 yellow notebook pages, perforated on top, holographic poems and notes. Dummy, stiff rough textured paper throughout, 24pp plus cover, 201 x 147, poem titles written on each page in biro, on cover: PG Tips also in biro. Four pages of pasted-up artwork (cover and 3 photos). 2 scrap jottings. 28 pages of typed and handwritten poems, various papers and sizes. Stiff card with type sizes for title page of PG Tips. 4 stiff sheets of A4 stock pasted up for printer (16 pages in book). 2 pages of proofs with corrections. Leftover piece of paper from preparing artwork, some written notes inside. Typescript: 'PG Tips, First Draft, 26pp, 204 x 164, picture of P. Grainger tipped-in, handwritten amendments. Mills of 11. 1. 1983 re: A Far Distant Landscape material relating to publication contained in large bright red envelope: Various handwritten lists of intended sections/selection of poems for book, in black, red and green ink, kept together by rubber band, with section(s) of typescript marked: Taken out of Thomas Meyer's initial selection, with another list of poems (in green ink) headed 'Added'. Typescript for book, two thick bunches of papers, 205 x 128, each held together by rubber band, sectioned with many paperclips (i. e. the final selection agreed on?). Maquette for book, typed, with amendments by hand, 153 x 133, including original artwork on cover (Air Circus), for Poinsettia (in colours), and for Pails of Weather (Thundercloud drawing, as for 1971 folding card). Printed proof copy of book in plain green covers, 154 x 128, (still lacks title and colophon pages, in black and white only, no wrapper).
