Complete and exact identification of individuals, buildings and scenes in the photographs in this series was not possible. The photographs have therefore been grouped together in a general subject arrangement. There are cut film negatives for many of the photographs in this series. These negatives are also arranged by subject and are filed after the photographs. Contact prints have been made for the glass plate negatives, and the originals have been placed in Restricted Fragile, where they may be consulted only with the approval of the appropriate curator. This series also contains several sketchbooks of drawings made by Indian prisoners at St. Augustine, Florida, and Indian students at Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
