General files chiefly consist of the professional correspondence of Paul Lavietes from 1943 to 1987, typically with fellow physicians and researchers. There are also memoranda and meeting minutes for the Gaylord Farm Association and the Yale-New Haven Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. The files are arranged alphabetically.

The fourth series includes Paul Lavietes's files on his mentor John Punnett Peters, and is arranged by type of material. In addition to a biography of Peters by Lavietes, a bibliography of Peters's publications, and memorial tributes to him following his death, there is correspondence with Lavietes regarding the John Punnett Peters Memorial Lectureship from 1956 to 1975.
