The two earliest ALS (1737 Oct 4,
1737 Nov 22) concern Warner's request
that Townshend correct and "improve"
his September 14th sermon for
printing. The ALS of 1761 Sep 24
describes his interview with the
Lord Chancellor on his proposed
research in Ireland; and the ALS
of [1767] Feb 24 describes Warner's
gout, assures Townshend that his
letters have been destroyed, and
discusses political matters, including
the "Jacobite" David Hume.
